19th New Zealand Jamboree - Mystery Creek, Hamilton

As with all past Jamborees, the New Zealand section of the International Badgers Club will be represented at the coming Jamboree.

The Badgers Club is an official part of the overall Jamboree programme through the running of an activity that provides an introduction into the history of New Zealand badges, from the early Counties, to Areas and Districts, through to the current Zones. Each Scout will be expected to complete the activity, and will receive an activity badge for their efforts.

We also will be running a number of trading tables, staffed by volunteering members from the Badgers Club. Various badges will be offered for trade to the Scouts, and this provides an opportunity for the club to obtain the large number of contingent badges that are available at the Jamboree. These badges are then offered for sale to our members through our bi-monthly magazine, and occasionally through auctions which the club also runs. At times, members will also be allowed the opportunity to trade for themselves when not on duty for the club.

The trading tables are always a busy place, often with Scouts themselves trading with their fellow Scouts. This is definitely promoted, as it is a great way to start a collection. We all started our collections from these simple beginnings!

If you have a pretty good collection and are looking for those harder to get badges come along and ask. Who knows what can be found in the boxes and bags that the Badgers Club members bring along to the Jamboree.

The club will be offering membership packs for those Scouts (and adults) that may wish to join, and as well a wide range of catalogue material will be on sale for those people who wish to take their collections a little further, or perhaps understand the history of the New Zealand badges.

If you are already a member, come along and say hello. If not, come along and say hello anyway. We will be holding a Badgers Club meeting one evening during the Jamboree for members, and those people who may wish to join, so keep your eyes open for the daily notices.
